The M40 combined the strengths of both using ARRI's MAX reflector technology. It's an open-face fixture with no front lens, yet it can focus from about 18° to 52° while maintaining a clean, even beam and crisp shadows.
ARRI claimed the M40 is roughly 30% brighter than the older ARRISUN 40 in spot mode while remaining similar in size.
